In this textbook, Preston takes the poet step-by-step through the process
of poetry, from creation through practice writings to presentation of the
polished form to an audience and editor. Emphasis on pre-crafting,with
a touch of humor thrown in, allows readers the freedom to laugh at themselves
as they develop an effective poem. Tips on how to give and receive critiques,
sample exercises, and various drafts by other poets enable the reader to
visualize all the aspects of a poem.
